Bali- Day 3

This was our last full day in Bali and we opted to just relax. I found a nice place to read in the shade, ordered a strawberry & rose mocktail along with a sparkling water to lessen the sweetness and make it last longer. What an indulgence to just read and have nothing pressing to do or chores calling your name, making you feel guilty for being simply lazy. I am currently reading A Voice In The Wind, by Francine Rivers. I have read a few of her books before and really love them.

John wanted to hang out by the pool for a while so we moved, and I sat in the shade while reading more and wouldn't you know it, I got sunburned...in the shade! This has happened before and you'd think that I'd learned my lesson but, no... I apparently still have more to learn. So now we continue on our journey with me sunburnt and already having to avoid the pool on the first day of the cruise. ugh! Oh, I nearly forgot to tell you that I found out the resort had one flavor of vegan ice cream, salted caramel. Yes, please!!! I do think it ended up being soy though so I did get a tummy ache, but it was worth it!

A word about air fresheners! This resort has air fresheners pumped into every square inch of this place. I literally break out into a deep lung cough randomly every hour or two... or more often if directly exposed. The elevators are like gas chambers. You must time them perfectly or they will pft... release the poisonous perfume while you are trapped inside. I imagine the elevators malfunctioning and getting trapped inside while quickly being suffocated by a flowery death! I have taken to wearing a mask in most places to avoid filling my lungs with the nasty irritant. It kinda works. I had to sleep with a lozenge in my mouth last night randomly sucking on it to coat my throat to avoid constantly waking with fits of racking coughs. They get so bad that I end up having to hack up mucus which John says makes me "highly attractive"! The only relief that I have found has been the wet sauna, the gym and the outdoors...in the sun. That and I am wearing my mask everywhere which makes me LOOK highly contagious but least I don't sound like I am.

We have an early dinner that was mediocre and headed to the spa for a nice sauna before showering and getting ready for bed.

4:01 am and I am wide awake! John has been up for a while and he's getting ready for the gym. I get ready too and meet him there. I find a very enthusiastic young lady on YouTube leading a 40 minute Hitt bootcamp utilizing the treadmill and doing simple floor exercises like squats, lunges, burpees and planks. I was worried that my legs would be trashed from yesterday, but I was pleasantly surprised. Must have been all of the lounging around that helped me to recover quickly. I think this morning's workout was more effective than any I have endured recently as I even had sweet dripping into my face. That never happens to me as I am not really a sweater. Now John is another story. That man can sweat! When he gets done with the treadmill, it takes us three towels to wipe everything up. We finish up while it's still dark outside. The world is quiet and peaceful.

Back at the room, we get ready for the day and pack everything up as the cruise line picks up our luggage at 8am.

Off to the buffet for our typical 3-hour breakfast. I start with wonderful fresh squeezed juices and 30 minutes later go for a light selection of vegetables and whatever protein I can manage to find which is usually just bacon. I am so envious of the egg eaters of the world. I then usually opt for a slice of gluten free bread & jam along with gluten free sweet breads. Today is match and taro bread. Taro is my favorite! This place has the absolute best gluten free bread that I've ever eaten! So good!

We end with matcha and cappuccino! See you on the cruise!
